"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
- Carl Rogers

At Medical Consulting Services, we approach addiction from a disease perspective; you are not the cause of your disease, but you can learn to manage your disease. We do not shame or blame, but instead hold your worth until you can.

As a small, boutique clinic, we provide individualized services to those willing and wanting true change in their lives. We know that there is no "one size fits all" approach and differentiate ourselves from the large clinics that are managed from a profit and loss statement.

It is our singular mission to provide the best quality of care in Idaho, for those truly ready to move beyond their addiction. Your best life is right ahead of you and we will get you there.

Providers

SERVICES

During years of practice in primary care, Dr. Casper realized that our difficulty controlling unhealthy behavior is the greatest barrier to wellness. Believing that addiction’s socioeconomic impact is greater than that of all other diseases combined and that treating addiction will provide the greatest health benefits for those affected by the disease, Dr. Casper eventually chose to focus his practice in the field of Addiction Medicine.

In 2013 Faith Sawyer Casper, LCPC and Dr. Casper partnered together to  join their shared whole-person treatment philosophy to provide counseling in addition to medication management.  "The behaviors of addiction began long before the disease became active, and will continue to exist after the disease has been stabilized. With the addition of the therapeutic alliance of counseling  the journey of recovery and a new life begins."

Dr. Casper’s clinical practice is accepting patients for the treatment of addiction and substance use disorders. This includes treatment of Co-Occurring Disorders (formerly known as “Dual Diagnosis”) and Pain Management in patients with Addiction.

BRANDING

Counseling

The process of person-centered therapy in the addiction setting is primarily to increase self-esteem and help clients open up to new and better understanding of their real and perceived selves while reducing self-inflicted feelings like guilt, insecurity, and defensiveness.

In successful addictions treatment, the person-centered approach depends on congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathy.

  • Congruence in that a counselor displays genuineness while discussing issues and being present in a way that connects with clients.

  • Unconditional positive regard allows clients to express their feelings and actions without question or judgment or receiving advice that threatens their progress.

  • Empathy toward a client displays sensitivity and emotional understanding toward a client.

The Convenience of Telehealth

The COVID-19 pandemic has been an exercise in change and learning for everyone. Our clients love telehealth appointments as a way to save time, avoid a commute, and talk to us from their own space. We've learned that they actually communicate more openly with us while in their own personal space, prevent patients from running late (which means more time with them), and overall facilitate more effective treatment.

Due to telehealth, we are able to effectively help motivated patients across the state of Idaho.

Medical Consulting Services is committed to always making our sessions conducive to growth and change in every way possible. Telehealth appointments have become an amazing tool in fostering that positive change.
